 Great but suceptible to frequent damage February 18, 2007

This was a great Lego set. My 6 year old earned it as a reading award in our family. He built it with the help of his dad. He's an expert Lego builder, but this one took a lot of time and seemed more difficult than most b/c it is fragile. The main objection I have with it still is that he cannot really play with it as he does his other Lego sets, even comparably sized sets with a similar number of pieces, b/c it constantly is falling apart. Pieces are always breaking off, and the entire thing frequently just collapses. This makes it not fun, and he rarely plays with it, but it is still in a plastic bin we have for every Lego set, and he is proud to have it and to have built it.

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my 13 year old daughter, who loves model and lego contruction. This set was perfect in challenging her, yet not so difficult that she needed any parental assistance. She completed the set in one fun-filled day. A real hit for the older child that loves a challenging Lego set!

While you might think this is excessively expensive, when you factor in design and the task of doing it, I think this is a great deal. My son, who is 7, got this for christmas and sat down and worked out almost the whole thing in 6 hours of intense concentration. Beyond the discipline and his pride in the result, the process trains his eye for observation and his hands for precision. For whatever reason, this kind of building has become something of an obsession in him that we want to feed and we hope to build on with tougher projects in the future. Ok, this is a bit canned and you have to follow the steps very carefully, but it is a big step. A year ago, he started on ships with 40 pieces, so this is a progression to 1366!
I think the one drawback is that these are quite fragile, so you can't play with them in a rough way. Thus, they are like models, though he and his sister will takes pieces and characters out of it for their games.
Warmly recommended.

We purchased this for our son's seventh birthday and he has not stopped playing with it. I would purchase an item like this again.

I bought this for my son for Christmas and it is living up to everything he wanted. He is a big Lego's fan and this was the only item he wanted from Santa. He spent all Christmas Day putting it together. The 2 manuals and parts were easily labeled and it has not been a problem putting anything together. I would definately recommend it to anyone who has children who loves Lego's.

Hey, Lego Star Wars fans! Ever wanted to be a Clone? Well now you can! This is a roleplay, a text-based storytelling game, where you and other players fight and adventure through the star wars world! This is an Rebublic vs. Separatist game, so you can't be a jedi or a sith, just a clone trooper. In this, you are a member of the famed 501st, with Captain Rex as your leader. Here's a list of what you can be: Clone Commander(3): You get to order others around and carry cool gear and stuff! ;) Clone Sharpshooter: Use a really awesome long-range blaster and snipe out the enemy! Clone Pilot: Pilot the various vehicles in the Clone Wars, like the V-19 Torrent! Clone Technician: Fix the broken-down vehicles. A very needed postion. Clone Trooper: Fight for the Rebublic!
