Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot--with a big, big heart--who holds the future of earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He's outlasted all the "Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class" robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he's developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with his collection of human memorabilia. EVE's directive compels her to bring Wall-E's newly collected plant sprout to the captain of the Axiom and Wall-E follows in hot pursuit. Suddenly, the human world is turned upside down and the Captain (Jeff Garlin) joins forces with Wall-E and a cast of other misfit robots to lead the now lethargic people back home to earth. Wall-E is a great family film with the most impressive aspect being the depth of emotion conveyed by a simple robot--a machine typically considered devoid of emotion, but made so absolutely touching by the magic of Pixar animation. Also well-worth admiring are the sweeping views from space, the creative yet disturbing vision of what strange luxuries a future space vacation might offer, and the innovative use of trash in a future cityscape. Underneath the slapstick comedy and touching love story is a poignant message about the folly of human greed and its potential effects on earth and the entire human race. Wall-E is preceded in theaters by the comical short Presto in which a magician's rabbit, unfed one too many times takes his revenge against the egotistical magician. I loved this movie, than again I have yet to see a PIXAR movie I have not loved.
From the first teaser images a year before the movie opened I was interested and bless their little digital souls PIXAR delivered a movie that was near perfect.
The film was so good I did not mind the heavy handed environmental message,the character of WALL- E was just so charming that the lefty message did not distract from a very enjoyable film.

Disney has created another classic! This is a story that has humor with a message, as in all Disney films. My kids are adults now, but I am still able to enjoy Disney films because of their appeal to all ages. I cannot wait to share my library of Disney films with my grandchildren someday!

this said the dvd was new and its not ( yeah nice christmas present) I have emailed several times with no response..needless to say I HAD to go the NEW dvd so a 20.00 present ended up costing me 40.00 people like this should not be allowed to sell things..... crooks
A future classic January 9, 2009
My child loved this movie in the theater and laughed just as hard the second time we watched it. There are also some deleted scenes, an alternate ending, and a cartoon short that she has to watch after we watch the movie. Very entertaining with a few messages about how we treat the planet & conduct our lives.

First, the DVD packaging is intriguing, very cool. The digital copy is a godsend - now I can play WALL-E on my iPhone, my iPod... EASILY! It's wonderful.
All of the extras I love, so does my 5&1/2 year old son.
The movie itself is in my top 3 favorite PIXAR features (the other 2 being "Ratatouille" and "The Incredibles"). Absolutely an outstanding movie from beginning to end. And the music is at turns oddly fun and heart-wrenchingly lovely. For a film that has so little dialogue the music is paramount and Thomas Newman NAILS IT.
Highly recommended!

STAR WARS 2009 SETS
As some of you may know, the January 2009 sets have already been released. For those of you who don't know, the sets are on the Star Wars part of Shop at Home. Please post your opinions of the sets here. Here is my opinion: I think they are interesting, and for once there is a set with more than two clones (the battle pack[:D])! Also, I like that they are re-releasing an older set (the tie fighter).

Well there is a bounty hunter H.Q. and Clone one too, so there probaly should be a jedi one too. All Jedi members are neutral and won't attack clones or bounty hunters(Although I can't see how you could do that) unless they implicate the fight.
