3 out of 5 stars A great toy but the it is way over priced.   November 14, 2008
I got to say this is one of the best toys I ever got. It is pretty durable, it has three clones, one red robot. I like how you control the wings and the bombs but, sometimes the bombs dont drop. Also, the price is crAZY!!! I mean for a price thats $150-$200 it's not really worth it. I only paid 30-50 dollers.

4 out of 5 stars Liked it   September 2, 2008
Over all I liked this kit. It looks like the ship it is portraying and was fun to build. One feature I didn't like was that, like some other Lego star wars sets, the cockpits aren't closed to the "vacuum of space". These are supposed to be *space* ships...I bugs me that I can see into the cockpits through open spaces without looking through the canopy. A few small modifications using my spare parts box fixed it though.

It has alot of pieces so it take a while to build. Thus making it worth your money to buy. It has a bomb port that really works. I am 12 years old and I would like to see more working features next time.

5 out of 5 stars Great for Display and Light Play   January 5, 2007

This larger Star Wars Lego kit is relatively large with several unusual features. The set is more fragile than some Star Wars kits and for those people who like to play with their Lego kits, I suggest light play because even a relatively small impact knocks pieces off. This kit does sit very well on a flat surface and is very suitable for display.

The most unusual feature of this kit is the movable wings. To operate the wings you rotate a gear located at the back of the Star Fighter. The gear rotates a shaft with a worm gear on it, which then rotates a series of spur gears that causes an arm to contact and open the wings. The wing mechanism fascinates me so much that I have opened and closed the wings a large number of times.

Between the movable wings are large fixed wings that make this Star Fighter wider than it is long. At the tip of each wing is a pair of guns that look quite ominous. Also mounted on the wings, close to the fuselage, are large engines. The front piece of the engines rotates for a turbine effect.

At the back end of the Star Fighter is a gun that rotates and swings upward. This gun pivots a little too freely, however, and tends to move around as you pretend to fly the Star Fighter.

There are four characters with this kit. Three of the characters are storm troopers. There are three cockpit locations for these three characters. All three of the cockpits have canopies. The back two canopies pivot upward and the panels on either side of those two canopies swing outward to allow access to the middle and back storm trooper and the R2 unit positioned between the canopies.

There are "bombs" that come with the Star Fighter, but they quickly became annoying so I put them in a location where they would no longer drop. Two of the storm troopers come with hand guns.

Star Wars Lego kits come in a huge array of configurations. This kit is near the middle of the price range for Star Wars Lego kits. This kit has several interesting features and has an unusual appearance that makes it a valuable part of a Star Wars Lego display. However, the wings are fun to open so taking this Star Fighter off its shelf and opening the wings and pretending like you are fighting your choice of bad guys is a lot of fun.

Enjoy!

3 out of 5 stars looks fun but it has horrible directions   December 25, 2006

My little brother (7 years old) got this set today and he asked me to help him build it. The set looked really fun for him so he was really excited. Then I started building it. The directions are some of the worst I've ever seen in a lego set. I'm a 14 year old boy who has built a lot of Start Wars lego, so this set shouldn't have been that hard for me. But the directions made it really hard. First of all, on the wings there is a direct mistake. They put one of the connecting pieces in the wrong place. For me after about 5 minutes I finally figured out that they were wrong, but if you're buying this for a 9 or 10 year old they will probably get frustrated. In the main part of the ship there is one part that I got really angry at. They didn't mess up, but they made it very hard to tell where a couple of pieces were supposed to go. I messed up and didn't notice until I had to put a wing on and that piece was in the way. Then I had to take the thing apart to fix it. I ended up getting frustrated because of that. And the colors in the directions are really messed up too. Like there will be a dark grey piece and a black piece and they'll look like they're almost exactly the same color.

This set is probably really fun to play with, my brother is still excited, but I suggest if you don't have someone older than 12 who is willing to help your child build it then just buy a different Star Wars lego set. Almost all of them are good.
